Linda Irwin
Director of School Partnerships
Linda Irwin joined the Niswonger Foundation as Assistant Director in charge of School Projects in July, 2004. Before assuming this role, Ms. Irwin was an educator in the Maryville City School System. During her 33 years with Maryville City Schools, she served as a teacher, school counselor, and, for 12 years, as a school administrator. As a principal, Ms. Irwin’s school led the state in year-to-year gains in student academic performance and was recognized as one of the top elementary schools in the state.
She holds a Bachelors degree from East Tennessee State University, a Masters degree from Tusculum College, and has served as an adjunct professor with both Maryville College and the University of Tennessee.
While teaching in the Maryville School System, Ms. Irwin also coached swimming, volleyball, softball, and golf at Maryville High School.
She is currently a member of the 12 person First to the Top Advisory Committee.
Community involvement has always played an integral part in Ms. Irwin’s life. For 15 years, she served as the Chairman of the Blount County American Red Cross Safety Services Committee and has received recognition as a 35 year Red Cross volunteer. She also chaired the Tennessee American Red Cross Safety Service Committee for 8 years and later served the state as the Volunteer Field Service Director. In addition to her volunteer hours with the Red Cross, Ms. Irwin has participated in many other community involvement activities such as: Relay for Life Board of Directors; Foothills Fall Festival Board of Directors; Maryville Housing Authority Advisory Board, and the United Way of Blount County.
