The Niswonger Foundation
Established in 2001, the Niswonger Foundation is the brainchild of businessman and Philanthropist Scott M. Niswonger, who remains the Foundation’s sole benefactor. He and his wife, Nikki, started with a dream of preparing East Tennessee for the 21st century and the changes it would bring. That dream materialized into the Niswonger Foundation, with its mission “to create opportunities for individual and community growth through education and other charitable activities.” Unlike most private foundations, the Niswonger Foundation is not a traditional grant-making foundation. It is an “operating” foundation with its own programs and projects.
